Human trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transporting, providing or obtaining, by any means, any person for labor or services involving forced labor, slavery or servitude in any industry, such as forced or coerced participation in agriculture, prostitution, manufacturing, or other industries or in domestic service or marriage.
Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world. Often called the modern-day slavery, victims of trafficking endure force, coercion, and fraud. Victims are among the most vulnerable in society, including the young, poor, and poorly educated. In addition to being forced into the sex trade, individuals are forced into a variety of labor situations including farm work, domestic servitude, and factory sweat shops.
