The Verizon Wireless HopeLine Virginia Partnership was launched on January 29, 2003 and involves Verizon Wireless, the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance , and the Office of the Attorney General. HopeLine is a phone recycling program that uses wireless services and equipment to assist victims in emergency domestic violence situations.
HopeLine collects wireless phones that are no longer being used. The used phones are either refurbished and recycled or sold. With the funds raised from the sale of the refurbished phones, Verizon Wireless purchases wireless phones and donates airtime to victims of domestic violence. Verizon Wireless's HopeLine program also makes financial grants to regional and national domestic violence organizations.
Individuals interested in participating in the HopeLine program can donate used wireless phones at any Verizon Wireless retail store or participating local domestic violence program. A list of certified domestic violence programs can be found here. Donations also can be received at any regional office of the Office of the Attorney General at the following locations:
