Events of the past few years have reminded us that we must all be prepared for emergency situations. Virginia is fortunate to be home to numerous military, government and business headquarters, but this also means that we must remain extra vigilant for threats to our security. Virginia’s geography also means that we are not immune from natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornados, and we as Virginians must remain prepared for responding to these emergencies.

2007 Virginia Public Safety Outreach Conference
This year's conference, "Ready Virginia," will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Newport News Omni. Conference sessions will focus on an array of topics, including how you can leverage the Ready Virginia campaign to improve emergency preparedness in your community. Sponsored by VDEM and Virginia Citizen Corps, conference registration information will be on VDEM's Web site in September.
